Majuli Island

Majuli, the world’s largest river island, is nestled in the Brahmaputra River in Assam. Known for its serene landscapes and vibrant culture, Majuli is a hub of Assamese Vaishnavite traditions. The island is home to several monasteries or Satras that preserve the region's art, dance, and music. It is also a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers, with its lush greenery and unique ecosystem.

Tour Plan

DAY 1 - Arrive Jorhat-Majuli

  • ⁠Arrive at Jorhat Airport
  • Meet the guide and transfer to Majuli
  • ⁠Drive to Nimati Ghat 
  • ⁠Take a ferry ride to Majuli 

DAY 2 - Explore Majuli

  • ⁠Post breakfast, explore various Satras
  • ⁠Visit Garmur Satra, Auniati Satra, and Natun Samaguri Satra
  • ⁠Learn about the history and significance of each Satra
  • ⁠Enjoy the famous religious play performed by monks

DAY 3 -  Majuli Village Tour

  • ⁠Post breakfast, explore local Mishing villages
  • ⁠Learn about their day-to-day life activities
  • ⁠⁠Try local cuisines and rice beer
  • ⁠Visit villages of other communities like Deori and Sonowal Kacharis

DAY 4 - Explore Majuli Wildlife

  • ⁠Post breakfast, explore natural wildlife and wetlands
  • ⁠Visit beels (wetlands) like Sakuli Beel and Bhereli Beel
  • Spot migratory birds and try fishing with locals

DAY 5 -  Depart from Majuli

  • Post breakfast, return to Jorhat
